We've been saying it for months on Don't Say The F Word Podcast - Jon Jones doesn't want to fight Stipe Miocic, the heavyweight king. Instead, he's been looking for a big-money fight. And now, UFC president Dana White has made a historic offer to make the Jon Jones vs. Tyson Fury fight happen in the octagon.
This groundbreaking announcement comes in the wake of a war of words between Jones and Fury that started last month when Fury took offense to Joe Rogan's comments about a potential fight outcome. The verbal sparring between the two fighters has fueled speculation about a potential showdown.
Despite Fury's insistence on fighting only in the boxing ring, Dana White remains determined to bring the fight to the UFC. During the post-fight press conference at UFC Vegas 74, White made his intentions clear:
"There's this debate right now about the baddest man on the planet, right? And Jon Jones is the baddest man on the planet. There's no doubt about it. So when you talk about who the baddest man on the planet is, if two guys fought, fought in a fight, who would win?"
White further addressed Fury directly, showing respect for the boxing champion and offering a solution:
"I'm telling Tyson Fury, whom I respect very much, if you really want to find out who the baddest man on the planet is, I will make that fight. I will make Jon Jones vs. Tyson Fury in the octagon. We figured out how to pay Floyd, we'll figure out how to pay you too, Tyson. So the offer is out there."
The Don't Say The F Word Podcast has long predicted Jones' reluctance to face Miocic and his pursuit of a lucrative matchup. Now, with White's offer on the table, it seems the possibility of a Jones vs. Fury showdown in the octagon is closer than ever.
While fans have been eagerly awaiting an update on Jones' next fight, especially his potential clash with Miocic, White hinted at the plans during a recent appearance on The Pat McAfee Show. Confirming their intention to target Madison Square Garden, White said:
"Jon Jones... We are working on something for him later this year. Everybody knows that we are targeting MSG and possibly him and Stipe Miocic."
The anticipation continues to build as the MMA community waits to see if Jon Jones will accept the challenge to face Tyson Fury in the UFC octagon. Don't Say The F Word Podcast will be closely following this developing story and providing updates as they unfold. Stay tuned for more exciting news from the world of mixed martial arts.
