MJF lied to AEW to get Indie Veteran on the show

Indie wrestling veteran &Ohio Native just like us here at Don't Say The F Word,Rickey Shane Page, better known as RSP, made a total of eight appearances for AEW in 2021 and 2022. All of his matches took place on AEW Dark and Elevation, two of the promotion's secondary shows. One particular match, which took place at the Elevation tapings on September 22, 2021, in Queens, New York, saw RSP team up with VSK and CPA for a 3-on-1 Handicap Match loss to Paul Wight. It was Wight's second match for AEW, just weeks after his debut win over QT Marshall at AEW All Out.

RSP recently spoke to Fightful Select in an interview and revealed an interesting anecdote about his AEW experience. According to him, the current AEW World Champion, MJF, lied to the company officials to get him booked for the September 22 show in Queens. These tapings were held at the prestigious Arthur Ashe Stadium, before the Grand Slam edition of Dynamite, and AEW needed extras. MJF, without consulting RSP first, told AEW that he was in the area and that RSP would be willing to make the trip up to New York City to work the show.

RSP ended up driving straight through the night from Ohio to New York to make it to the show. When he arrived, he was told by Aubrey Edwards that he would be working with Paul Wight at the tapings. Despite the unusual circumstances surrounding his booking, RSP spoke highly of his AEW experience and said that AEW President Tony Khan was nice to him. He even recalled sometimes sitting in the Gorilla Position backstage and watching Khan direct the show because he's interested in that aspect of the business.

RSP's last AEW match took place on August 24, 2022, at the Elevation tapings in Cleveland, OH, where he lost to Matt Hardy. Since then, he has made appearances for various promotions, including MLW, DDT in Japan, PROGRESS in the UK, and West Coast Pro. Although his time in AEW was brief, RSP's experience shows the power of connections and how they can open doors in the wrestling industry.
