In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, All Elite Wrestling (AEW) President Tony Khan revealed that he has already named Bryan Danielson as his successor in the event of his death or incapacitation.
"I've told my dad that if anything ever happens to me, I want him to hand the company over to Bryan," Khan said. "He's the guy I trust the most to carry on my vision for AEW."
Danielson is one of the most respected wrestlers in the world, and he has been a key part of AEW's success since joining the company in 2020. He is known for his technical wrestling skills and his ability to tell stories in the ring.

Khan's decision to name Danielson as his successor is a sign of the high regard he holds for the wrestler. It also suggests that Khan is committed to keeping AEW independent and not going public.
"I have no plans to make AEW a publicly traded company," Khan said. "I believe that keeping the company in the family will allow us to stay true to our vision and not be beholden to shareholders."
Khan's decision is a welcome one for many fans who are concerned about the impact that going public could have on AEW. A publicly traded company is more likely to be focused on profits than on creating a quality product, and it could also lead to creative decisions being made by people who are not familiar with the wrestling business.
By keeping AEW independent, Khan is ensuring that the company will remain focused on its fans and its creative vision. This is a good thing for the future of AEW, and it is a decision that is likely to be appreciated by fans around the world.
**In my opinion, it is probably for the better that AEW does not go public.** I would prefer it if no wrestling companies were on the stock market because that is way less people to answer to and keeps things from being too corporate.
When a wrestling company is publicly traded, it is beholden to its shareholders. This means that the company's decisions are made with the goal of maximizing profits, not with the goal of creating a quality product. This can lead to creative decisions being made that are not in the best interests of the fans.
In addition, a publicly traded company is more likely to be acquired by a larger corporation. This could lead to the company losing its independence and its unique identity.
I am glad that Tony Khan is committed to keeping AEW independent. This is a good thing for the fans and for the future of the company. Please take into account that even though AEW is not a publicly traded company it is far from being an "Indie" wrestling promotion in my opinion.
